Many church members and friends may not realize that Southside was founded by 15 forward-thinking Unitarian women in 1886, who recognized the need for quality childcare for the children of the working poor in South St. Louis City.
Originally known as Southside Day Nursery, the organization still exists today as Southside ECC, and it continues to serve families in St. Louis. Has its original mission changed? In what ways has it evolved over the past 100+ years?
